Officers on Op Sacristy, the ongoing corruption probe into Cleveland Police and its now defunct police authority, have made a further arrest.
A 52-year-old man was detained at an address in Pembrokeshire on December 18 on suspicion of fraud, corruption and money laundering.
Warwickshire Police, which is leading on Op Sacristy, refused to identify him. It said it was searching two addresses and vehicles as part of the warrant.
The man is the tenth person to have been arrested in the probe, in which DCC Derek Bonnard and the then chief constable Sean Price were arrested last year.
DCC Bonnard was later released from police bail and is awaiting a gross misconduct hearing. The hearing has so-far been deferred on several occasions.
Mr Price was sacked in October after a misconduct hearing over his “undue influence” in securing the daughter of former police authority chairman Dave McLuckie a job on the force. Mr Price remains on police bail.
As PoliceOracle.com has previously reported, Op Sacristy is looking at allegations of inappropriate hospitality, lax vetting procedures, inappropriate awards of police property maintenance contracts and “excessive personal rewards and remuneration”.
