Rates of pay currently £7.93 per hour, enhanced rate on a bank holiday, NO rest day rate, paid weekly as usual
Expenses – are paid monthly
single day duty £5.02,
two day duty £15.05,
three day duty£25.08,
four day duty £35.11
Any overnight stay where driver is required to clean coach at the end of duty receives £6.00 payment.
Four weeks paid holiday plus accrued lieu days. SSP only sick pay scheme,
Rota is a mixture of 4 and 5 day weeks, overtime is available within EU driving regulations.
Minimum guaranteed shift is 9 hours 45 per day, but maximum duty is governed only by driving time, 15 hours max for single manned duties. Currently only 2 duties over 14 hours long.
Hotel accommodation on any overnight duties is pre-arranged by the company.
Drivers receive a % commission on any tickets they sell, which is paid once ticket book is completed.
Duties currently start from approx 05:30 in the morning with the latest clock off being about 00:45.
Successful candidates need to undertake specific National Express Induction training before being allowed to drive on the network, as well as lift training and National Express’s own customer care course. Further training and refresher courses are also part of National Expresses contract conditions, which will usually be done at the depot.
National Express uniform will be provided, along with staff privilege passes.
All National Express coaches fitted with alcolocks, breath test must be submitted and passed before coach will start. National express hold a zero tolerance policy and any confirmed fails will lead to their instant removal from Express work.
Drivers should hold a valid CPC card, preferably have a digital tachograph card, and also must hold a full Manual or Automatic PCV licence.
